ABSTRACT:With the development of globalization, Chinese economic growth depends on the communication between China and the world. It is translation that must be a bridge because of the cultural shock of two different cultures, so that translation plays a significant role. However, cultural differences usually lead to different thinking models, which have great influence on E-C translation. In addition, focus is the main part in translation, for the changes of focus can affect translation immediately; the research of focus is of great importance.
This study, according to the analysis and research of 100 complex sentences of New Concept English 3, proves that the focus which is carried by words, phrases, or a part of a sentence, or a whole sentence, is a key part in a sentence, showing the most important information. And the author also explains that in E-C translation, from the perspective of cultural differences, English sentences and Chinese sentences have the same focus which always lays on results, conclusions, hypnosis and facts, but the position is of difference. English sentences are generally head-focused while Chinese sentences are often end-focused. English sentences always put the main part in the principal clauses and in the start, but Chinese sentences put the less important part in the start of a sentence. There will be unnecessary communication obstacles without full considerations on the focus’s outstanding effect. Therefore, the readers need to concentrate on the focus’s effects, be familiar with the focus’s usages, and catch the changes of the focus’s positions, so that the readers can play well in translation and make better communication come true.

摘要:随着世界全球化的发展壮大，中国经济的发展依靠于中国与世界之间的交流。两个不同文化世界的碰撞就需要翻译这座桥梁，那么翻译就起了举足轻重的作用，但文化差异往往会导致思维模式的差异，对英汉翻译造成一定的影响。而重心是翻译中重要的一个部分，重心的改变对翻译造成直接的影响，所以对重心的研究就显得尤为重要。
本文中，作者通过对新概念英语3上的100个复合句的分析研究，证明了句子的重心就是句子的主要部分，由句子中的词，词组，或句子的一部分或整个句子来承载，承载最重要的信息，并在此基础上，从文化差异角度说明了在英汉翻译过程中，英语句子和汉语句子的重心相同, 一般都落在结果、结论、假设或事实等上面, 但重心的位置可不同, 英语句子一般是前重心, 而汉语句子一般是后重心。英语句子一般将主要的部分放在主句中, 放在句子的开头, 而汉语句子则把次要的部分放在句首。如果没有充分把握重心在英汉翻译中的突出地位及具体影响，那么就会造成不必要的交流障碍。因此，读者需要重视重心的作用，熟悉重心的用法，把握重心位置的改变，才可以在翻译中游刃有余，促进更好的交流。
