Abstract: Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, which is a brooding tale of passion and revenge set is admired for its complex structure and ambiguity. It has surpassed other novels in academic and popular circles. The Count of Monte Cristo is a novel of enormous tension and excitement，and meanwhile a tale of obsession and revenge. It presents a powerful conflict between good and evil, embodied in an epic saga that is complicated by the hero’s discomfort with the implications of his own actions. As the two heroes --Heathcliff and Dantes share lots of similarities in their revenges, and this paper aims at making a comparison of their revenges based on a profound analysis of the similar factors, similar process, and the similar elevation of revenges. It holds that the two revenges are both the product of mixture of love and hatred, and the common essences of the revenges are the restoration of human nature and forgiveness.

摘要：艾米莉·勃朗特的《呼啸山庄》,因其错综复杂而又扑朔迷离的情节使人们对其故事的热血沸腾和深刻复仇倍感钦佩。远远超越了在学术界和流行圈子里的其他小说。《基督山伯爵》充斥着惊心动魄、兴奋无比的情节，同时它又演绎着冥冥忧愁与深仇雪恨的故事。善与恶之间的强势矛盾在其这部令人捉摸不透的史诗传奇中体现出来，主人公对自己的所作所为感到生不逢时。希斯克利夫（Heathcliff）和邓蒂斯（Dantes），这两位主人公在复仇情节上具有众多相似之处，本人旨在对其复仇的相似因素，相似过程以及升华进行深刻分析的基础上做出对比。本文认为，两种复仇都是爱与恨的产物，其本质都是人类本性的回归与宽恕。
