Abstract: This study aims to present a detailed analysis of the unique features of English film title translations in Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan from the perspective of Relevance Theory. The author discusses mainly the differences of English film title translations in the three areas respectively and points out that different cognition and context are the main causes for these phenomenon. In the author’s opinion, because the cultures, language systems and living habits in the three areas are still quite different from each other, the diversity of English film title translations will remain for a considerable period of time. In order to respect different cultures and customs, and avoid causing confusion to the audience when they are confronted with several translated versions with the same original film, the author suggests that we can address the issues by adding notes of different translations or notes of the different regions.
