Abstract：If an English film wants to make a deep impression on Chinese audiences, the translation of the title is definitely a key point on its promotion. Hence, it requires the translators should have a good command of translation skills. We often use four methods----Literal Translation, Free Translation, Transliteration, and Combination of Literal and Free Translation to translate the English film titles. As we all know, the film title is also a portion of the social culture, so it surely relates to the aspects of the social culture, such as politics, economics, history, religion, etc. Therefore, how to bridge the comprehension gap of the audiences from different cultural backgrounds is crucial to the translation of English film titles. This paper firstly introduces the basic methods of English film title translation, and then analyzes the major factor affecting the translating process----cultural difference. The last part is a conclusion, that is, although the culture difference can not be eliminated thoroughly in the whole process of English film title translation, the translators attach much more importance to the Chinese culture when they are doing the translation work.

摘 要：外国电影要让中国观众过目不忘，其翻译自然是电影推广宣传中的关键一环，这就要求我们熟知翻译技巧，电影片名翻译通常用直译、音译、意译以及直译意译相结合的方法。众所周知，电影片名也是社会文化的一部分，当然会涉及到社会文化形式的方方面面，包括政治、经济、历史、宗教等。如何逾越不同的社会文化背景所造成的理解鸿沟，是电影片名翻译首先要解决的问题。本文首先介绍电影片名汉译的常用方法，接着详细分析影响电影片名翻译的主要因素——社会文化差异，最后得出结论：虽然中西方文化差异对于电影片名汉译的影响无法彻底得到解决，但在进行电影片名汉译的过程中，更加倾向与注重中国文化。
