Abstract:Pride and Prejudice is an immensely popular novel written by Jane Austen. The main concern of the passage is the character transformation of Elizabeth. Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice is the representative of prejudice. The passage expresses the process of reduction of prejudice on character self-improvement of Elizabeth Bennet. Analyzing the character of Elizabeth Bennet both in her virtues and weakness, the passage mainly demonstrates an independent image of women. Elizabeth is critical of love and marriage, and further more she considers that to everyone marriage and love should be free and equal. The passage reveals the changing character of Elizabeth Bennet, observing her changing attitudes towards Darcy. I discover that she has improved herself; finally they end up with a happy marriage.
The passage will discuss from three aspects, that is, the social environment in Elizabeth’s life, plot development and psychological changing process. The passage begins with the introduction of the background of the novel; the body of the passage will illustrate the process from Elizabeth’s awareness of others to self-recognition, thus to express the process of reduction of prejudice. At the end, the passage will restate the topic by analyzing psychological changing process. By interpretation of Pride and Prejudice, the novel emerges the female process of gaining mental maturity and their attitude towards marriage.

中文摘要:简•奥斯汀的代表作《傲慢与偏见》是一部脍炙人口的经典著作。本文的关注点在于通过关注奥斯汀的《傲慢与偏见》中伊丽莎白性格的转变，见证她对人的偏见逐步减退，逐步实现自我性格完善的过程。本文通过分析伊丽莎白性格中的优缺点来展现出一位独立女性的形象。她对爱情和婚姻有着自己独到的看法，她认为爱情和婚姻对于每个人来说都应该是自由平等的。通过她对达西态度的转变揭示了她性格的转变，她逐步完善了自我，从而成就了一段美满的爱情。
本文将从三个方面论述，即伊丽莎白生活的社会环境，情节发展和心理变化过程。论文的开头是对小说时代背景的介绍；主体是对伊丽莎白从认知他人到自我认识过程的分析，阐述对人偏见的退减过程：从主人公开始的偏见到深度偏见到后来认识到自己的错误；结尾是从伊丽莎白的心理变化过程总结重申观点。通过对《傲慢与偏见》文本的解读，分析一个女性思想成熟的过程和对待婚姻的看法。
