Abstract:Color words, as a kind of common vocabulary, have a lot to do with our life. In all languages, the basic meanings of color words are basically similar. However, a certain color is given different cultural implications in different nations. To make cross-cultural communication smooth and accurate, we should understand different meanings of colors in different cultures. This present study intends to discuss similarities as well as differences in cultural implications of “white”and explore appropriate skills to achieve equivalence in English-Chinese translation . It aims to help language users to better understand the cultural implications of color words and avoid making mistakes in translation.

摘要:颜色词作为一种常用词汇，与我们的生活有着十分密切的联系。在所有的语言中，颜色的基本意思大致相同，然而颜色被不同民族赋予了不同的文化涵义。为了使跨文化交流准确流畅，我们应该懂得色彩在不同文化中的不同含义。本文通过例举分析白色颜色词的实例，探讨了白色词的文化象征意义异同，并在此基础上探讨了白色词英汉互译翻译技巧，旨在帮助语言学习者了解颜色词文化象征意义，正确自如地运用白色词从而减少翻译过程中的错误。
