Abstract:This paper is intended to test the effectiveness of the new teaching model of scaffolding instruction to help senior high school students improve English reading comprehension ability. In view of problems existing in English reading teaching, the author reports a detailed study on the theoretical foundations of scaffolding instruction, and discusses the application of scaffolding instruction to senior high English reading teaching. A qualitative test is carried out by combining five steps of scaffolding instruction with a specific example of senior high English reading teaching. Results of the study prove that scaffolding instruction can not only improve students’ reading comprehension ability, but also promote their cognitive development. The thesis provides a new perspective in dealing with senior high school students’ reading problems in FLL based on scaffolding instruction. The author expects the research may give some enlightenment to language instructors in improving students’ reading ability in FLT and in constructing harmonious and efficient classroom English learning.

摘要:本文旨在研究以支架式教学法来帮助高中生提高英语阅读理解能力的有效性。鉴于当今英语阅读教学中存在的问题,作者详细阐述了支架式教学的理论基础,并且将支架式教学法运用于高中英语阅读教学中。通过将支架式教学法的五个步骤与高中英语阅读教学课相结合,进行定性研究。研究表明支架式教学法不仅能提高学生的阅读理解能力,而且也能促进他们的认知发展。本文以支架式教学为基础,以全新的视角解决了高中生在外语学习中的阅读问题。作者期望该研究能对外语教学中的教师有所启发,从而提高学生的阅读能力,构建和谐、高效的英语学习课堂。
