The study aim to investigate the affecting factors of listening comprehension and the frequency of listening strategies used among students, and then introduce some useful and practical strategies of listening comprehension, for the purpose of improving students’ listening ability. A questionnaire is designed according to the theory of strategies classification raised by O'Malley and Chamot(1987). The results of the study show the lack of self-study in listening comprehension and the listening strategies use among non-English majors. To improve students’ listening ability, teachers need to pay more attention to the affecting factors in listening comprehension, and train students by the means of listening strategies.
