Abstract:Everlasting Regret is one of Bai Juyi’s magnum opuses, a well-known poet in China.The poem vividly describes the love story between Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine Lady Yang, which ended in tragedy. The author created a touching and beautiful story based on historical figures and legends, and presented the authentic scenarios by shaping artistic images.This poem has been appreciated all time since it came in to being. As one of the most influential translator in China today, his version combines the essence of other versions. This paper attempts to illustrate how to translate the poem of Everlasting Regret from Chinese into English by the ways of appreciation and analysis of the two languages. In order to make readers better understand the essence of the poem, the paper introduces the words, sentences, rhythm and rhetoric under the guide of the three beauty aspects. In doing so, this paper hopefully reaches the conclusion that Xu Yuanchong’s version is a guide in the translation of Everlasting Regret and his “beauty in three aspects” makes a significant contribution to translation of traditional Chinese poems.

摘要:《长恨歌》是唐代著名诗人白居易的代表作之一，全诗形象地叙述了唐玄宗与贵妃杨玉环的爱情悲剧。诗人借历史人物和传说，创造了一个宛转的动人故事，并通过塑造艺术形象，再现了现实生活的真实，感染了千百年来的读者。许渊冲先生作为中国现今最有影响力的译者之一，他的《长恨歌》译本结合了众家之长。本文旨在以许渊冲翻译理论中的“三美论”为指导，分别从从词汇、句子、音律、修辞等方面对本诗的许译本进行评析。得出的结论是，许渊冲的版本对长恨歌英译有很高的指导性，他的“三美论”为中国传统诗歌翻译做出了杰出贡献。
