Abstract: This paper aims to analyze the main functions and limitations of machine translation (MT) of journalistic texts between English and Chinese. The analysis is based on computer-aided translation (CAT) and discourse analysis theory with the application of MT in journalistic texts in recent years as the breakthrough point. Through the comparison between MT and human translation (HT), the paper proposes combining MT and HT to make the translation of journalistic texts more rapid and more efficient.

摘要：本文旨在分析机器翻译目前在中英新闻翻译中最主要的功能及其局限性. 该分析以机器翻译近年来在新闻翻译中的应用为切入点，并以计算机辅助翻译和语篇分析理论作为其理论基础。通过机器翻译与人工翻译的比较，本文提出机器翻译与人工翻译结合的方法以使新闻翻译更快速、更准确。
