Abstract: Jane Austen is one of the most gifted British novelists in the 19th century. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen’s masterpiece, is one of the most precious curiosa in English literature as well as in the world literature. And W · S · Maugham, a famous British novelist and dramatist, regards it to be one of the first ten distinguished novels in the world. Irony is the essence of artistic value in Pride and Prejudice. A translator should be able to pick them up in the original and convey them in the translation works, so that readers could fully appreciate them. This paper aims to describe their characteristics respectively through the comparison of the two Chinese versions.

摘要:简 · 奥斯汀是19世纪最杰出的小说家。她的代表作《傲慢与偏见》不仅是英国文苑的奇葩,也是世界文库的珍品,被英国著名小说家和戏剧家毛姆列为世界十大小说经典名著之一。而反讽则是《傲慢与偏见》的艺术精髓所在。译者在翻译时既要具慧眼识别,又要最大限度地传译,使读者能充分欣赏到原文的反讽特色。本文拟通过《傲慢与偏见》两个译本的比较,分析其各自特点。
