Abstract:With the development of economic globalization and the acceleration of international cultural exchanges, the cultural accumulations of Chinese history show the endless charm to the whole world. More and more foreign friends travel to China for understanding the Chinese culture.
The uniqueness of Chinese culture and the purposes of foreign tourists decide that the introduction of the tourist materials should include the unique cultural introduction. Except for the basic introduction (destination location, traffic conditions, and service facilities), the most important part is how to highlight the cultural accumulation in the tourist attractions. The translation of allusions in tourist materials is a very difficult task, because these allusions also include the unique culture about tourist attractions.
this thesis, from the perspective of cultural context, taking the translstion of allusions of the scenic spots in Suzhou for example, analyzes the translation principles and strategies of allusions in tourist materials. The study is a beneficial attempt. It aims to improve the accuracy of the translation in tourist materials and the foreign tourists’ interpretation of Chinese cultural background.
The thesis can be divided into four parts. The first part mainly introduces the background and the significance of the research. The second part is a literature review about the cultural context and the translation of allusions. And The following part is the main body of the thesis, it firstly introduces the translation principles and translation strategies of allusions, then takes the scenic spots of Suzhou for example to explan how to use the different translation strategies for the translation of allusions in tourist materials flexibly. At last it draws a conclusion that the translation of allusions in tourist materials should focus on its cultural connotation; the translator must adopt flexible translation strategies according to the different cultural context in the translation of allusions in tourist materials.
