ABSTRACT:This thesis focuses on the analysis of the mistranslation appearing in the translation of English news, such as misinterpreting the original intent or altering the authorized translation, abusing the imagination and ignoring the original meaning, and neglecting the truth. And it puts forward some suggestions on how to avoid and reduce the mistranslation. Being a kind of translation, English news translation has no difference from other text translation in that: they should adhere to the general rules of translation and give priority to being loyal to the original work. At the same time, news translation also needs to obey the rules of news report, such as honesty, accuracy and fairness. In virtue of such characteristics as mass communication and timeliness, the English news translation should combine the principle with flexibility. Meanwhile, the translator should make specific analysis of specific issues.
Key words: English News; translation; mistranslation
