Abstract:Since 1970s, language and gender differences have become more and more important in sociolinguistics. Also the relationship between gender differences and language users has become the foci to many researchers. The study tends to discuss, from the perspective of sociolinguistics, gender differences in intonation, pronunciation, vocabulary and some specific aspects in detail. In addition, the paper analyses social roots and social phenomenon which will show the significance of gender differences in language. This study aims to do research on the background, main idea and some influential explanations of language and gender differences.
