Abstract:From the ancient time till now, food has been the very foundation of human survival. With the development of human society, culinary culture has become one of the important cultural contents in our life. Because of the difference in living environments, social customs, and living habitats, culinary cultures in different cultural contexts bear distinctive features. Yet, with the globalization process picking up speed in a fashion which has never been seen in the entire human history, cross-cultural communication becomes more and more frequent, which inevitably leads to a cultural integration. This paper focuses on finding the differences between Chinese and Western culinary cultural practices and tries to probe in depth into the different values behind these differences.
