Abstract:With the sustaining and rapid development of world's economy, politics, culture and military, diplomatic interpreting, as an integral part of conference interpreting, plays a vital role in the smooth running of the meetings and worldwide exchange and cooperation. Political words, as a product of politic process, have been used as a kind of terminology which entail specific meanings and are closely related to the national image, territory integrity and policies. But due to the differences in language structure, cultural background and diplomatic policies among each nation in the course of historical development, the translation of political words doesn’t merely involve language capacity and translation tactics, but also requires an accurate use of political words by taking each party’s national conditions into consideration. Considering all these features, this thesis intends to explore and summarize the translation tactics of political words in diplomatic interpreting in different situations by analyzing factors influencing the translation of political words, such as, linguistic disparity, cultural differences and diplomatic policy from the perspective of features and translation standards of political words in diplomatic occasions.
