Abstract
Different from non-literature translation, literature translation goes beyond the semantic translation. That the conveying of the literature’s charm (also called the aesthetic value)in translation is deemed to be the key point in literature translation has been discussed and studied during the history of the translation theory and practice. From the standpoint of translation aesthetics, the representation of literature’s charm in the course from the source language to the target language is the process of aesthetic re-creation. This thesis takes the beauty of the humor languages in novel, which is one of the most important forms of literature, as the breakthrough point to exposit the steps and main points in the process of aesthetic re-creation.
This article is conducted from the perspective of aesthetics, using the method of case study and comparative study, and choosing three Chinese versions of Pride and Prejudice as research objective in order to analyze the humor languages of Pride and Prejudice, to explore the translation strategy from the perspective of humor languages, in order to demonstrate the profound Chinese language and culture to the world .
In this thesis, chapter one introduces the humor languages, significance, the structure of the study, research methods, and innovation. In chapter two, it summarizes the study of literary translation of several scholars from the perspective of aesthetics. Chapter three, According to the viewpoints of the aesthetic objects proposed by Liu Miqing, the analysis of the translation of humor languages is focused on three levels, including diction, syntax and style. The fourth chapter is the conclusion that summarizes the research results, limitations and future research directions .
