Abstract
Film shoulders an important mission of cultural transmission, both film content and the translation of film titles are indispensable parts of national cultural exchange. Title is the essence and the soul of the film, so the thesis is a study on Chinese and Western cultural differences reflected in the translation of film titles. Differences between Chinese and Western cultures are mainly manifested in three aspects: the language and aesthetic, the mode of thinking and value divergence. By comparing and analyzing some concrete examples about the film titles, we can find out the relevant characteristics, and put forward literal translation, free translation, and other translation strategies to deal with these cultural differences accordingly, so as to promote cultural exchanges and achieve the integration of the two cultures.
