Abstract: With the development of economic globalization, the modern Business English is widely used in business areas. The more abbreviations are applied, the more conveniently business activities work. However, in the process of translating the abbreviations in Business English, some translators ignore the importance of translation theories and thus cannot grasp the differences between English and Chinese language correctly, leading to dissatisfactory translation results. Eugene A. Nida's Function Equivalence Theory analyzes the principles of translation mainly through two aspects, which provides a new way of translating abbreviations. Based on the feasibility of Functional Equivalence Theory, this paper analyses the development and features of Business English abbreviations, emphatically discusses translation principles and translation strategies in business English.
