Abstract: Soft news, an important genre of news, which contains various figures of speech and culture elements. It can not only transfer the information, but also influence the thoughts of people. Obviously, the translation of soft news is quite flexible. And it is quite necessary to study the translation of soft new. This paper discusses the translation of English soft news from the perspective of Newmark’s Translation Theory,and many examples are used to prove the practicability of Newmark’s Translation Theory for the translation of English soft news . This study aims to provide some useful methods to the research of translation and help translators improve the quality of translation of English soft news.
