Abstract: When China has got involved in the world economy.The financial news becomes the main mean to reflex and announce the financial information. Financial news belongs to the type of functional text with the explicit target, and the translation from English into Chinese largely aims to supply the financial information for the readers. Hans Vermeer’s Skopos theory viewed that translation is essentially is a kind of communicative act. This thesis, based on Vermeer's skopos theory as a guideline, analysing the English financial news features in three layers of words, sentences and discourses by applying the three rules of Skopos theory, namely, law of purpose,coherence rule,the fidelity rule. The paper draws the conclusion that it is suitable to use literal translation,the noun conversion method, the extension methods,for word translation, to use methods like refining sentences, adding necessary words,deleting the words for setence translation and use compiling method for discourses translation. .
