ABSTRACT
The translation of film titles has always been a big concern of film translator and many achievements have been made so far in this respect. Due to the uniqueness of the film titles named after people’s names, their translation remains a tougher job.
This paper has made a detailed classification of film titles named after people’s name and also focused on their unique functions, combined with a large quantity of real examples. This paper has found that when translating film titles named after people’s names, translators must follow the principles of conveying the information, aesthetic values and cultural reconstructions and adopt different translation strategies such as transliteration, conversion, naturalization and literal translation and so on flexibly and appropriately.
