Abstract: The theme of Contrastive Analysis is to compare and analyze two different language systems, and to determine the differences and similarities of them, thus helping the learners learn a new language more quickly. Contrastive analysis is on the basis of psychological transfer theory. By comparing the two kinds of language system and finding the similarities and differences between them can explain the phenomenon of "mother tongue" negative interference. To a certain extent teachers can reduce the influence of native language by using Contrastive Analysis in teaching process, and to improve the teaching quality. This article briefly introduces the Contrastive Analysis from its psychological basis, development model and research significance, and then analyze the Contrastive Analysis and its defects in high school English teaching from the current situation in high school English teaching, and list the two main miatakes caused by negative transfer of mother tongue in high school English teaching, and accordingly find out the strategies of improving the quality of English teaching with Contrastive Analysis.
