The study investigated the application of the inductive method in English grammar teaching in a junior high school, mainly using questionnaires and interviews. The participants are teachers and students from a junior high school in Nanjing. It is found out that the inductive method is widely used in grammar teaching in the school and the majority of teachers and students hold positive attitudes towards it. However, there are several problems with the use of the method, such limited time in class, levels of difficulty involving the grammar points and uneven participation.
