Abstract
Translation Ecology mainly studies the relationship among translation activities, translators and their works. Culture-loaded words are those words with the characteristics of certain culture, enhancing mutual understanding between different nations. There are plentiful culture-loaded words in True Story of Ah Q which reflect the social customs, lifestyle, and so on. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the C-E translation of culture-loaded words in True Story of Ah Q.
Based on translation ecology, this paper tries to compare Yang Xianyi & Dai Naidei’s and William A. Lyell’s English versions of True Story of Ah Q to study the C-E translation of culture-loaded words. Under the guidance of cultural, linguistic and cultural principles, the thesis sums up some common methods in the C-E translation of culture-loaded words. The translator should adopt different methods in accordance with different situation, so as to keep the balance of cultural exchange, of communication between primitive and target language readers, and linguistics between original and the target language.
