[摘要] 丁玲，一位以独特的视角来描写女性，并以自身的个性特征给小说带来独特艺术魅力的女作家，她所创造出的一系列别具特色的“莎菲型”女性形象，真实而深刻地展现了早期女性的生存状态，以及她们在觉醒后大胆反叛封建旧礼教，追求自我价值和生命意义过程中的艰难险阻。充满了现代意识，显示了丁玲对中国女性弱者地位的高度关注。

崔淑琴在《试析丁玲短篇小说中的女性形象》中就丁玲的《梦珂》、《莎菲女士的日记》、《我在霞存的时候》、《在医院中》四个短篇小说来分析莎菲们的形象，认为莎菲浑身上下弥漫着强烈的孤独感和挥之不去的苦闷情绪。梦珂本身就孤独，“梦想”破灭后，再次陷入孤独；莎菲是知识女性内心的孤独和苦闷；贞贞带着被侵略者蹂躏的巨大创伤和不为同乡人理解的苦闷，她的心路历程和人生历程无疑都是孤独的；陆萍因前途渺茫，又与周围人关系冷漠，使她精神和行动上都是孤独的。
