摘要：本文介绍了局域网聊天系统的现状,存在的问题以及未来开发的目标；服务器和客户端的实现，包括了系统设计的目标、总体设计、需求分析、详细设计以及系统实现的相关内容。相对于传统通过手机，电话的聊天，局域网聊天以其独特的通讯方式也逐渐被人们所熟知。
首先，本系统的好处是显而易见的，它不用付太多的费用，就可以实现与好友聊天，这都是其他通讯工具所不能比拟的，还可以实现资源共享，互传。其次，用户群多，这也是很多人选择本系统来实现通讯的原因。当你生活困倦了，或者想认识一些新的朋友，都可以通过它来实现。
Visual Basic作为一个面对对象的语言，以其多元化的控件来实现网络通讯，其简单方便的开发模式，强大的功能，和跨平台的优势成为很多编程者的开发工具，被认为功能和操作性综合评价最高的开发工具，其独特的面对对象，在运行速度，安全性，可移植性均比传统的开发语言有很大的改进。
