Abstract:With the increasing trend of globalization, business letters have became an important tool in the international trade. As one kind of business letters, business offer letters have been highly regarded work and widely used in business trade. The business offer letters cover all the necessary information in business negotiation, the translation of the business offer letters have a significant impact on the business. Therefore, it is important for us to translate the business offer letters precisely. Under the guidance of register theory, languages will change according to their functions, which means that different situation determines different language features. This paper will analyze the translation strategies of business offer letters from the special context on business offer letters, that is, to translate from three variables (field, tenor, mode) of register theory, at the same time, to analyze the three variables by using examples of business offer letters. Mastering the translation strategies will help us to achieve the accuracy of business offer letters and make the functions of business offer letters more clearly. Hopefully to master the variables of register theory on business offer letters and the translation strategies of business offer letters can give inspiration to improve the translation of business offer letters. What is more, it can provide some help to those who work on business offer letters translation.

中文摘要:随着全球一体化趋势日益加快,商务信函已成为国际贸易中必不可少的工具,作为商务信函之一,商务发盘函也越来越受重视并被广泛地应用于商务贸易中,商务发盘函覆盖了商务洽谈的一切必要信息,其撰写对贸易业务有着极其重要的影响,因此商务发盘函的翻译十分重要。在语域理论的指导下,语言会随着其功能的变化而变化,即不同的语境因素决定不同的语言特征。本文从商务发盘函这一特殊语境来分析商务发盘函的翻译策略,即从语域理论的语场、语旨、语式这三个变量来分析商务发盘函的翻译,同时引用商务发盘函的相关例子来分析语域理论的三个变量。掌握商务发盘函的翻译策略,可使商务发盘函的翻译达到准确无误,使商务发盘函在商务洽谈的功能充分体现出来。本文从掌握商务发盘函的语域理论的变量和商务发盘函的翻译策略入手,希望有助于快速提高商务英语发盘函翻译的启示,给予从事英语商务信函写作的工作人员提供一定的帮助。

Business offer letter is one of the most important official letters. It is important step in the business negotiation concerning whether the related trade can continue or not. Therefore, it is necessary for us to make a research on how to translate it professionally. From the perspective of register theory, we can know that different contexts have different ways in translation. In this thesis, the author analyzed the register theory and the three variables of register theory. And then, probed into the translation strategies of business offer letters from the special context on business offer letters, that is, to translate from three variables (field, tenor, mode) of the register theory. Since appropriate use of the translation strategies can help us to know how to translate the business offer letter effectively, we should do our best to understand them. At the same time, it will help us to communicate with your clients accurately and effectively.
