Abstract:Loanwords from English are an inevitable result of culture exchange, whose introduction and use enrich Chinese vocabulary, and reflect features of the times. Translation methods on Chinese Loanwords from English and their development are an essential part on the evolution of Chinese. To be good for communication use, we should make these loanwords adapt to the demands of the time development by studying them and regulating their use. However, it shows that as a language full of energy and vigor, loanwords from English have always been changing in line with the times, including their translations. Therefore, in order to assist people to accept them, it is meaningful for us to make a latest research on the translations and development of Chinese loanwords from English.

中文摘要:英源外来词是文化交流的必然产物。英源外来词的引进和使用丰富了汉语的词汇,体现了时代的特色。现代汉语中英源外来词的翻译方法和发展趋势是汉语发展中不可缺少的一部分。从交际使用角度出发,要使英源外来词适应时代发展的要求,就要对英源外来词进行研究及对其使用进行规范。但时代在不断地发展,外来词也在不断地更新,其翻译方法也在流变,因此,本文就汉语中英源外来词的翻译,发展趋势进行最新的探讨,从而有助于人们更好地理解,接受英源外来词。

   There doesn’t seem to be any question that loanwords from English play a significant role in our language development. The path of borrowing from another language is worth making a research. Translation is always in a state of in-between’s which premises for culture fusion and is the expression of inter-cultural interactions and complementation. After reading some concerning papers, or books, we can come to a conclusion that literal translation seems to conform to Chinese traditional thinking mode. But transliteration occupies a large part, on this occasion, transliteration plus Chinese morpheme is easily accepted by people. Comparing modern Chinese loanwords with ancient Chinese loanwords, we can find translation method change a lot. Ancient Chinese loanwords almost are transliteration words. However, modern Chinese loanwords are adding up with Chinese morpheme on the premise of transliteration. Although there are various translation techniques, one point is shared, that is, because more and more international communication, the efficiency of information exchange becomes a basic demand of our modern life. Also translation techniques which are concise, unambiguous, universal, and fashionable can meet the requirement of the borrowing between different languages. Loanwords mean a lot to our language. And as the rapid development of international interaction, we can find loanwords will be enriched. Because the time of research and my competences are rather limited, there must be some limitation in this dissertation. I will do further reading and understanding about it in the future. If we can take best use of loanwords, with the help of various proper translation strategies to strengthen linguistic expressions of Chinese. And learn lessons in loanwords translation. Chinese language would surely become richer and richer and make improvement in translation practice and its theory.
