Abstract:With the rapid development of globalization and the prosperity of China’s economy, "Fast-food culture" has great influence to our contemporary social life. Its popularity reflects the transformation of the entire social lifestyle as well as the living habits and values of modern people. It also causes certain impact on traditional Chinese culture. However, the previous studies on fast food culture usually focused on its negative influence on mainly teenagers yet neglected the role fast food plays in reality. 

        This paper aims to study both sides: the advantages and disadvantages, comprehensively so as to reach a more practical view about fast food. In fact, as a new form of service, there must reasons for people to like it or dislike it. When we look into the matter in a scientific way, things may become clear that as long as fast foods are used or served in a correct way, the bad influence or effects can be avoided and the advantageous parts can be taken for the effective contribution of people in life.

摘要:随着全球化的推进以及中国经济的腾飞,“快餐文化”对现代都市人的影响无处不在,它的流行反映了整个社会环境、人们价值观和生活方式都在转变,对中国传统文化也产生了一定的冲击。然而过往对“快餐文化”的研究都过于负面,研究对象主要为青少年,并忽略了快餐在其构成的文化中扮演的角色。因此本文通过研究快餐本身的有益之处,以综合的全方位角度更理性客观地判断快餐文化的利与弊, 并在此基础上探讨如何更好地在避免、防范其负面影响的同时使快餐文化为现代人生活的健康发展起到积极的作用或贡献。

   To sum up the study, here listed are three points to be taken into serious consideration.

   (1) Based on multiplicity of cultures and customs, fast food corporation ought to establish different sale tactics that is in line with local market preference. For instance, typical western fast food meal mainly includes hamburger, French fries and soft drink. When they are introduced to Asia, some changes could be made according to regional customs and dietary habits. Like KFC in China, they launched new products that are suitable for Chinese, such as hot soup, gruel, rice and Chinese flavor breakfast so on.

   As to Chinese style fast food, although it is more healthy compared to western style, it lacks general popularity because it lays emphasis on national characteristics. Therefore, to develop Chinese fast food business, it is necessary to make it more accessible to a wider consumer by enhancing the standardization of products, improving the comfort of restaurant environment or convenience for taking etc.

    (2) To advocate the idea of green consumption and raise the environmental awareness of the public. To reduce the waste of resources, first of all, fast food outlets could provide less tissue for customer. Then disposable plastic foam food/drink containers could be replaced by recycle-friendly material. Through amending the outside package of products, people could save more paper.

   (3). We have to acknowledge that “fast food culture” has become part of main current culture. No matter how much negative effect it brings to the society, the fact is many people still like and depend on having them. Its existence needs to be taken seriously, so does its social value and social effect. To avoid cultural conflicts, government should expand the communication between different cultures. On the one hand, the excellent tradition and local cultures need to be better promoted. On the other hand, we ought to affirm the bright sides of “fast food culture”. To set up a healthy eating habit and consuming attitude needs education and nice environment. In modern society, people will realize and learn to tell right from wrong cleverly in life.
