Abstract:Reading is of great importance among the basic foreign language skills and how to improve students’ English reading proficiency has long been a common concern of researchers and English teachers. So, as an English teacher, he should choose an efficient method to teach English reading, because it can help students improve their reading proficiency efficaciously.
In this thesis, the author mainly focuses on the metacognitive strategies in teaching English reading for junior high students. The thesis falls into the following six parts. Part One is a brief introduction to the whole thesis. Part Two gives an introduction to the strategies. Part Three gives a detailed account of metacognitive strategy and its origin, definition, relationship with other learning strategies. Part Four discusses the nature of the reading. Part Five deals with the steps to teach English reading in junior high school. Part Six gives a summary of the whole thesis, which again stresses the importance of metacognitive strategy for teaching English reading.

中文摘要:在外语的各种基本技能中,阅读是一项非常重要的技能,而且怎样提高学生英语阅读熟练程度已成为了教育研究者及英语教师共同关注的内容。因此,作为一名英语教师,他应该选择一种有效的方法来教英语阅读,因为这种有效的方法能帮助学生有效地提高他们的阅读熟练度。
在本论文中,作者主要论述了初中英语阅读教学中的元认知策略。论文分成其下六部分。第一部分为论文的简要介绍。第二部分是对策略的介绍。第三部分详细介绍了原认知策略及其来源、定义、与其它学习策略的关系。第四部分探讨了阅读的特性。第五部分介绍了初中英语阅读教学的方法、步骤。第六部分对整篇论文进行了总结,其再次强调了元认知策略对于英语阅读教学的重要性。
