Abstract: Complicated sentences are used a lot in the English language, the main purpose of studying English complicated sentences is to help English learners comprehend and translate English complicated sentences into Chinese more correctly. To have a general idea of English complicated sentences, the essay first gives the definition and then analyses the causes of formation of English complicated sentences, including their common types. Structure comparisons between English and Chinese are also discussed; so that readers can see the differences between English and Chinese expressions. Finally, the essay points out that one should learn to comprehend and express English complicated sentences, and probe the methods in translating English complicated sentences into Chinese based on the above knowledge.

摘要：复杂句是英语的一种常见的语言现象，研究英语复杂句的主要目的和意义是帮助英语学习者更好地理解和翻译复杂句。本文前部分给出了复杂句的定义，分析了复杂句的成因，并总结了复杂句的类型，以达到认识复杂句的目的；接着比较了英汉句法结构的区别以了解中英的表达差异；最后在理解和表达的基础上进一步探讨了翻译复杂句的方法。
