Abstract: This paper is aimed to make an analysis of the similarities and differences of the animal idioms, both in Chinese and English, from the perspective of cultural connotation, and attempts to make an observation into the leading factors attributing to these similarities and differences. This paper is mainly to focus on three reasons, geographical conditions, customs and habits, and religions. Through the analysis, the author hopes to obtain the better understanding of the cultural connotations of animal idioms, so as to arouse the mass awareness of semantic nicety of animal idioms, and improve the ability of understanding and utilization of animal idioms.

摘要：本文从文化内涵的角度分析了中英动物习语文化异同，并着重探讨文化含义异同产生的原因。探讨地理环境、风俗习惯和宗教三个方面，对中英动物习语文化内涵与文化差异所产生的影响。旨在更好的了解中英动物习语的文化内涵，有助于增强对动物习语的认识，加深对中英动物习语语义上的细微差别的体会，从而能提高对中英动物习语的理解和运用能力。
