Abstract:Pearl S. Buck, as a controversial American woman writer, wrote many works about China and its people, especially those in the countryside. The Good Earth is known as the greatest novel of Pearl S. Buck’s works, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. Later in 1938, Mrs. Buck won the Nobel Prize, being the first female winner in America.
The Good Earth is the representative work of Pearl Buck. The novel discusses the fate, status and self-worth issues of Chinese women through the portrait of O-lan. Meanwhile, the writer gives the deepest sympathy to Chinese women. Through the analysis of the brave struggle and the pursuit for equality of Chinese women in the patriarchal society, this paper aims to interpret the feminist consciousness in The Good Earth, so as to prove that woman have tenacious vitality and bearing capacity.

摘要:赛珍珠是20世纪中美文坛上颇有争议的女性作家。她热爱中国,一生创作了许多反映中国,特别是以中国农村为题材的小说作品。1932年因其小说《大地》而成为第一位获得普利策小说奖的女性;1938年她又获诺贝尔文学奖,成为美国历史上第一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的女作家。
《大地》是赛珍珠的代表作。小说通过对女主人公阿兰的描写,探讨了中国妇女的命运、地位和自我价值,并对她们给予了深切的同情。本文通过分析小说所体现的中国女性在男权社会中勇敢抗争,追求平等的品质,解读《大地》中的女性意识,从而证明女性顽强不屈的生命力和毅力。
