Abstract:Amy Tan (1952--) is a famous Chinese American woman writer. Her first novel The Joy Luck Club (1989) caused an immediate sensation after its publication and won the wide acclaim from both readers and critics.
Through analyzing the conflicts between the two typical mothers and daughters—Jing-mei Woo and her mother, Sunyuan Woo; Waverly Jong and her mother Lindo, we realize the conflicts between the mothers and their daughters are the conflicts between the Chinese culture and American culture. It is also the conflicts between their different historical backgrounds, ways of thinking, ways of education and cultural values.
In the end, the mothers and their daughters began to understand and accept each other and have Chinese culture and American culture in their life harmoniously while preserving their own individual values and traditions.

中文摘要:谭恩美（1952-）是美国著名的华裔女作家，她的处女作《喜福会》一经问世即引起轰动，获得了美国普通读者和评论界的广泛关注和好评，被视为美国华裔文学走向繁荣的标志之一。
《喜福会》中较为典型的两对母女—精美和她的母亲素云与韦弗利和她的母亲琳达的冲突实质上是中美两种文化之间的冲突，是中美两国不同的历史背景，思维方式，教育方式，价值观等引起的冲突。
在冲突中，母亲看到了中国文化和教育方法在美国社会环境中的不同和缺陷，女儿也在母亲的关心和教育中看到了美国文化的不足和差异。
然而，随着时间的推移，同根同源的女儿们一定会在母亲的根对树叶般的教育下和关心下，认识到自身的相同和差异，尊重、适应、接受了其血缘文化，消除冲突，使母女关系重归于好，使中美两种文化共存，互补，使她们的生活再度和谐，幸福永远。
