Abstract: This poem is one of the most original and classic love poems written by John Donne. Love and eternity are the themes of this poem. John Donne used conceit as a conscious language technique in this poem. My analysis focuses on the content and the metaphysical conceit. In this poem, conceit is used as an instrument of expression to enrich the meaning of the poem and to add to its aesthetic effects. I hope this analysis can help us understand better the relationship among love, life, and resurrection in John Donne’s writing.
