ABSTRACT:Pride and Prejudice is one of the most important works in the 18th century British literature, and also being the most popular novel and represented masterpiece of all the creations of Jane Austen.
The book Pride and prejudice is of daily life and ordinary people. Austen writes in a method of irony and humor rather than the popular method of sentiment to vividly describe the conservative life and status of middle class who live in countryside from the end of 18 century to the beginning of 19 century. This novel analyzes love and marriages by illustrating and probing into five different marriages to reveal the author’s notion of marriage.
This paper makes a careful analysis of these five marriages in pride and prejudice and discusses the deep outlook for the love and marriage in the light of social background at that time. Love and marriage are closely associated with property and social status, but can not only be decided by it. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection and respect. Austen emphasized the importance of the true affection and ensured this touching to be the cornerstone of ideal marital life.

中文摘要:《傲慢与偏见》是奥斯汀的代表作，是十八世纪英国文学界经典著作之一，也是奥斯丁作品中最受欢迎的一部长篇小说。
这部作品以日常生活为题材，作者奥斯汀一反当时社会上流行的感伤小说的内容和矫揉造作的写作方法，而是用了讽刺和幽默的文笔生动地反映18世纪末到19世纪初处于保守和闭塞状态下的英国乡镇中产阶级的生活和世态人情。该小说通过对五段婚姻的描写解析和探讨，基本完全概括了当时社会中爱情和婚姻的状况，充分体现了作者奥斯汀的爱情和婚姻观。
本文通过对这五段婚姻的详细的分析，来探讨《傲慢与偏见》中的爱情观和婚姻观:恋爱婚姻与财产和社会地位相互关联，但是恋爱婚姻不能仅取决于财产和社会地位,正确的婚姻应当建立在相互爱慕、相互尊重的基础上,并强调了婚姻中感情因素的重要性，把男女双方感情作为缔结理想婚姻的基石。
