Abstract:Autonomous learning is known as a learning strategy which can facilitate learners to apply the knowledge they acquired in a certain area to practice. Although autonomous learning mainly focuses on the learner, teacher's role can not be ignored. In fact, learners' autonomous learning can not be achieved without the participation of teacher.
Scholars' opinions on teacher's role in autonomous learning are varied, and so far, no unanimous conclusion has been made in this regard. This paper analyzes and summarizes the role of teacher in autonomous learning, with a special focus on the college English teacher. It discusses the roles of teacher in autonomous learning and points out that teachers' appropriate guidance may have a positive effect on learners in autonomous learning.
This paper is composed of four parts: the first part focuses on the definition of autonomous learning; the second part discusses the significant roles of college English teacher in autonomous learning, and clarifies some misunderstandings and misconceptions in autonomous learning.The third part summarizes roles of College English teacher into five main categories: facilitator, counselor, monitor, resource provider and evaluator. The final part presents a further discussion of the change of the role of teacher and the new challenge that teacher faced.

摘要:本文将针对教师在自主学习中的角色作用进行深入分析与总结,将教师的角色(以大学英语教师为例)进行分类归纳总结。通过分析国内外具有代表性的理论和实证研究文章,总结并提炼教师在自主学习中的角色定位。本文认为教师科学合理的引导是促使学生发展自主学习能力的条件,是保障学生进行有效自主学习并提高自主能力的重要前提。本研究期望通过对教师在自主学习中角色作用的总结与具体分析,使读者及英语自主学习者充分认识到大学英语教师在自主学习过程中角色的重要性,从而了解到在自身自主学习的过程中可寻求帮助的来源,同时为即将成为外语教师的学者提供角色转化过程中的参考依据。
