Abstract:Nowadays, we are living in an age of information as well as vocabulary. With the increasingly frequent international exchanges as well as the popularity of media, English undeniably become the world language, learning English has become a hot social phenomenon. However, with historical and social development and time changing, English, as a huge, rich language, which has absorbed many foreign words and experienced great changes in meaning. Even the native-speakers feel difficult for learning such large vocabulary, non-native speaker feel harder. Hence some effective guidance for vocabulary acquisition should be introduced to aid vocabulary learning. Although the vocabulary acquisition research in recent years is of great importance to the academic community, no certain correct guidance has been made for learners Due to this reason, I will try to introduce and apply the word-formation, as an effective approach to vocabulary acquisition. Three aspects of word-formation impact on vocabulary acquisition will be discoursed in this paper: 1. Enlargement of vocabulary size, 2. Association of vocabulary memory, 3. Improvement of vocabulary proficiency in its usage. And how to apply word-formation to vocabulary acquisition has been explained in this essay.
Because of the light vocabulary throws on other aspects of language, word-formation will catch more attention and give guidance to English learners to acquire vocabulary better.

中文摘要:如今，我们生活在信息的时代同时也是词汇的时代。随着国际交往日益频繁以及宣传媒介的普及，英语不可否认地成为世界语言，学习英语变成了社会的热点现象。但是英语是一种庞大的，丰富的语言，由于历史和社会发展的各种原因，它吸收了许多外来词汇. 随着时代的变迁，许多词义都发生了改变，这对非本族语的学习者来说，要认识这些词汇是很困难的事情。虽然词汇习得的研究近年来受到了学术界的重视，但并未能广泛和正确地指导学习者学习词汇，因此构词法作为一种有效地词汇习得的方法被引用到学习中。文中介绍了构词法对词汇习得的三个方面的影响：1.扩大词汇量，2.协调词汇记忆，3.提高英语应用能力。并就构词法如何应用到词汇学习中做了解释。
由于词汇反应了语言的许多方面，所以构词法也将会引起更多的关注，相信会更好地指导英语学习者学习英语词汇。
