Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to describe women’s status in India. It first reviews women’s status in ancient times in India. Then it illustrates women’s status in India at present. The comparison shows that women’s status in India has not changed a lot. This paper further analyzes the factors that influence these changes and provides solutions from different ways to gender inequality. Finally the paper concludes that the government should attach great importance to this problem and put all kinds of policies into real effect.

摘要：这篇论文旨在描述印度妇女的地位。文章首先回顾了古印度妇女的地位，然后描述了当今印度妇女的社会状况。通过比较，得出印度妇女的地位并没有太大的改变。文章接着分析了导致妇女地位如此之低的各种影响因素，并介绍当今政府为改变这个状态所应采取的各种措施。最后文章指出，政府应该认真重视这一问题，并把各项政策落实到实处，惠泽所有印度妇女。
