Abstract：Humor is a common form of social communication, and it often makes people laugh. It can alleviate contradictions, mediate interpersonal relationship at the critical moment. Verbal humor is the essence of human language, which reflects the wisdom and interest of human beings. The humorous language in Good Luck Charlie has been the highlight in the play, and was deeply loved by the audience. This thesis Good Luck Charlie studies the verbal humor in from the perspective of Cooperative Principle. It shows that verbal humor in Good Luck Charlie is mainly resulted from the violation of Cooperative Principle, which reveals the mechanism of generating verbal humor in situation comedies. The study may have a positive meaning to appreciate the phenomenon of verbal humor.
