Abstract:In the research of the foreign language learning, the theory of contrastive analysis is very important, and the contrastive analysis is based on the hypothesis of language transfer. Since Chinese and English belong to two language families, they have many differences in varies aspects. Many people usually regard the effect of the native language on foreign language learning as one of interference. With the development of the transfer theory, great changes have taken place in the attitude towards the transfer phenomenon.The positive transfer of the native language attaches more attention. Based on the previous achievements in this field, the present research is focused on the influence of the primary learners' oral teaching.
The full text of the dissertation is divided into three parts.
The first part discusses the language transfer in language learning in the aspect of psychology. It also reviews the researches done by the experts from home and abroad. The text finds that it is very important to study the positive transfer on the oral teaching in the theoretical framework of contrastive analysis, error analysis and interlanguage. Such a study could help us take advantage of the positive effect of the native language on foreign language teaching and help the students cultivate the oral ability.
The second part deals with the similarities between Chinese and English in oral aspect. After comparing and analysing, it summarizes the common points in the aspects of phonetics, intonation, lexicon, syntax and the five basic patterns of simple sentence, which may lay the foundation of application in oral English teaching.
The third part discusses the basic requirements of the new curriculum for primary school students and of the oral levels. It will also analyze the difficulties that oral English teaching has met and the corresponding solutions.
In the last part, a conclusion is reached: as the primary learners have to learn English in Chinese language environment, it is sure that the mother language will influence oral English learning. With the correct instruction, the students surely can have the right idea and the right methods to improve their English comprehensive ability.
