Abstract:Translation of scenic spots introduction plays a very important role in promoting tourism. The last few decades have witnessed great prosperity of tourism, so there are many good C-E translation of scenic spots introduction in Xuzhou too. Even though, the current existing situation is that many English versions of Xuzhou tourist materials are far from satisfactory and fail to achieve the intended function. 

From the perspective of functional equivalence theory, this paper analyzes the English translation errors of Xuzhou tourist attractions. Different errors are classified by four different levels of equivalence, which are overemphasizing lexical equivalence, overemphasizing syntactic equivalence, overemphasizing discourse equivalence and lacking stylistic equivalence. This thesis states that amplification and deletion are effective methods to enhance the translation of scenic spots introduction in Xuzhou. It is hoped that this thesis will be helpful to the C-E translation of scenic spots introduction in Xuzhou. The purpose of this paper is to promote the propaganda work of Xuzhou tourism, to improve the visibility of the city and to accelerate the process of internationalization of Xuzhou’s tourism industry.
