Abstract:During the second half of the nineteenth century, American woman writer Luisa Alcott occupied a certain position in international literature due to her Little Women. This novel has gained global popularity and added a brilliant page to literature. Little Women is set in a New England town during American Civil War. It is written in a form of family log, telling about a story of emotional entanglement among four Marge sisters. American cultural heritage and social changes can also be read in this novel.
This thesis makes a further study of the narrative techniques from narrative modes, narrative perspectives and narrative methods. Narrative modes include the third person narration and family log. Narrative perspectives can be embodied in the following aspects: female perspective, religious perspective, perspective of family and perspective of marriage. Narrative methods involve character implication and detail implication.
