Abstract:Family is the most significant cell of the society, and parents are the first teachers to their children. With the rapid development of the world, high quality talents are needed, while good family education is the key to the talents. In the fierce global competition, all the nations lay emphasis on family education. However, owing to cultural difference, family education is different in many aspects between China and America. Based on the sitcoms Home with Kids and Modern Family, this paper attempts to compare the similarities and differences of Chinese and American family education from the cultural perspectives, and explore the reasons behind the differences, hoping to offer some reasonable and effective suggestions to Chinese family education.
