Abstract
With the development of the Internet in recent years, the number of Chinese Internet users is increasing, more and more popular words in network have emerged. The popular words in network are popular among Internet users with its briefness, timeliness and innovation. The investigation on translation method of popular words in network aims at showing the author's academic point of view accurately and adequately, promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the West. In this paper, on the premise of the fully understanding of the language and cultural features, a deep study of translation strategies of popular words in network is made based on Readers of Reflection. Translation strategies of popular words in network can be divided into literal translation, free translation, transliteration, annotation, and other categories. When some popular words in network have the same meaning in Chinese and English, literal translation is adopted. If Chinese and English have the same expressions, English expressions can be used directly. Otherwise, free translation and other translation methods are used. By the applications of these translation strategies, the popular words in network can be more understandable to foreigners for purposes of cultural exchange.
