Abstract

 

Food culture is a significance culture in the world and plays a pivotal role in intercultural communication. People living in different regions will have various differences in food structure, cooking methods and table manners, which are closely related to people’s traditional customs, religious beliefs, culture concepts and ways of thinking. The diverse food culture in the West has contributed to the diversity of the world’s dietary culture. With the exchange and integration of modern international culture, the differences of culture between China and Western countries have become more and more obvious, which have aroused people’s interest in the research.

     The thesis tries to put forward its viewpoint on the basis of previous research. Firstly, the paper expounds the concept of the culture and intercultural communication and the development as well as Cross-cultural communication of the food culture, and then elaborated on the differences between Chinese and Western food culture from the three aspects of diet concept, kitchenware and table manners.
