Abstract
The phenomenon of the twin images in literary has become more and more common in nowadays. The “twin mode” typically focuses on the existence of the twin image in the literary work and has gain much more concern. The paper uses the comparative law and induction methods to fully illustrate the twin mode. The first part is a brief introduction of the paper. The second part talks about the twin mode which includes the definition, development and genre of the twin mode. The third part mainly illustrates the twin mode in the Prince and the Pauper. The paper takes Mark Twain’s novel The Prince and the Pauper as an intermediary and draws the conclusion that the twin mode has great functions in plot development, character description and theme establishment in the novel.
