Abstract
As the world is globalized and the Internet is developed, translating work and online dictionary also catch the trend to develop. The combination of translation and online dictionary brings many advantages and disadvantages, especially for English major students who have opportunities to practice translating exercises on the Internet or who are ready to study MTI to engage in translating work. In order to clearly know specific advantages and disadvantages of online dictionary for English major undergraduates in translation, I have conducted an research and analyzed the data of a questionnaire. Finally, I listed detailed advantages and disadvantages in the sequence of looking-up stages(from the stage of getting an online dictionary to the stage of retrieving a word and of analyzing and choosing suitable information), and from the perspective of cognitive process I explained the reason for the nature of advantages and disadvantages.
