Abstract
This dissertation is based on the Lexical Approach and many current related theories. And this dissertation will illustrate the Lexical Approach from its four aspects of definition, development, main ideas and types firstly. Then, from the traditional ways of vocabulary teaching and nowadays phenomenon of vocabulary study, showing the considerable room for improvement. Thus, to get into the topic of this dissertation and reveal the advantages of the Lexical Approach when we put it into practice. At the same time, this dissertation will take the situation of Chinese students into consideration and give the suitable suggestion.
